The Gîtes Location
Close to the top tourist attractions
Gîte Lau Pito Meizou is a rural holiday gîte located in La Farge, situated beside the village of Saint-Antoine-d’Auberoche, in the picturesque countryside of Périgord Blanc - one of the four Périgord regions that made up the former Périgord province and is now called the Dordogne. The gîte also closely borders with its neighbor, Périgord Noir, where most of the top tourist attractions and tourist activities can be found, including the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat, probably one of the nicest towns in Dordogne that we have visited (so far!). Don’t forget Lascaux in Montignac.
Easy access into Périgueux
Accessing Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne department, is quick and easy taking the main road D6089. Alternatively, you can take the beautiful scenic back roads, were you will pass through some lovely little Périgordian villages and it will only take you a few minutes longer. Additionally, by taking the back road route, you will conveniently arrive in Trélissac (a suburb of Périgueux), where you will find a large E.Leclerc hypermarché amongst a selection of other shops and restaurants, all with convenient free parking. For more information about shops and restaurants we have created a useful shops and restaurants page.
The local area
Staying local, there are plenty of local shops, bars, cafés, restaurants and amenities & facilities, as well as medical & emergency facilities.
Having lived in Dordogne for a few years now, we have explored much of the department and we have created a useful summary with some suggestions of things to see and do in the different Périgord regions. Our central location in Périgord Blanc, almost in the heart of the Dordogne, makes an excellent central base from which to explore in any direction, especially and as already mentioned the beautiful Périgord Noir.
Pretty much everything is on hand here without being located in the hustle and bustle of the busy touristy areas and this is why we chose to live here and also why we also recommend that you reserve/book the gîte with us!
The wider Périgord Blanc region
We have recently created a new page which is full of useful information about the Périgord Blanc region. The various villages and towns to visit, along with some popular attractions and activities to see and do. You can access this page by clicking on/touching the button below.
